PIVOT testing initiative set to last for 6-months, covering both detection and protection methods, including those used in successful Scattered Spider attacks
British cyber firm SE Labs is set to launch the world’s largest security testing programme next month.
The newly unveiled PIVOT programme will see vendors from some of the biggest technology brands in the world put their software and solutions forward for rigorous testing.
SE Labs, founded by tech expert Simon Edwards, will set its team of professionally trained and accredited ethical hackers to work trying to break into systems using techniques used by Russian hackers and groups such Scattered Spider which successfully breached Transport for London earlier this year. The programme will see SE Labs run tests using the full attack chain, from the reconnaissance phase through to possible persistence, data theft and/ or destruction.
The PIVOT programme takes cyber testing to the next level, covering incident response and forensic investigation capabilities.
Simon Edwards, CEO of SE Labs, has said:
“Cyber criminals have proven themselves to be organised, ruthless and extremely creative when it comes to using AI to breach systems, and our PIVOT testing programme is designed to up the ante against these threats. It’s a common myth that larger technology vendors and anti-virus systems are somehow immune to these attacks, and our team will rigorously test each entrant to ensure no stone is left unturned when it comes to identifying vulnerabilities.”
Welcoming the launch, Matt Scott, Police and Crime Commissioner for Kent said:
“AI-enabled cyber attacks pose a major threat to UK businesses and could do untold damage to critical national infrastructure. Security services need to remain on red alert to such threats, with investment pouring into security defences to stay on step ahead of these lethal and growing threats.”
